No-Go
Still no contact from those Jehovah's Witnesses yet. It's been ten days since they agreed to e-mail me and set up a time for a discussion. I'm rather surprised.

An Early Attempt to Make Contact
Over a year ago, it must have been, some Jehovah's Witnesses ('Uriah' and 'Ham') stopped by my home while I was upstairs or away. My mother answered the door, and as she spoke to them, they were somewhat astonished by the strength of her faith. She said that her son (that is, me) would probably really be interested in talking to them, so they should come back sometime when I was more available.
We all set up a time for them to come by, and I had been hoping that a neighbor of mine (a retired pastor who lives two doors down) would attend, but he was unwilling. However, Uriah and Ham came, and we dialogued for a while about various things. Several hours later, their supervisor came to our house to remove them, as it was getting quite late. My personal opinion of the discussion was that it was more or less a tie, though my mother opined that I had obtained a victory. But the two of them would occasionally stop by to drop off the latest issues of Awake! and The Watchtower. These visits became quite infrequent and eventually stopped. Until...
On Wednesday, Uriah came to the door with a new partner to see how I was doing. They had the latest issues of both publications, and I spent a few minutes shooting the breeze with them. As they were getting ready to leave, I asked if we could maybe set up some time fairly soon where they could come back and we could all have a discussion. They will be e-mailing me to set up a time. I believe I'm going to ask for some extra literature. I've been wanting to get a hard copy of the New World Translation (available online here), and my pastor never returned my copy of Should You Believe the Trinity?.
In the meantime, therefore, one of my goals is to beef up an essay I've been writing dealing with the deity of Christ. I feel that it's already fairly sufficient, but I've added a number of paragraphs dealing with the views of the Ante-Nicene Fathers.
